Speaker: Caroline Fernald
Topic: Prehistoric Trade Between Mesoamerica and The American Southwest
Caroline Jean Fernald is the Executive Director of the Millicent Rogers Museum. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Native American art history at the University of Oklahoma, and wrote her Master's thesis on Mesoamerican influences on pottery motifs at Acoma Pueblo.
Her lecture will address this research by focusing on prehistoric trade connections between Mesoamerica and the Southwest as well as representations of luxury trade goods, such as scarlet macaws, in prehistoric and historic Southwestern art.
